J. Crew, the American omni-channel fashion brand, has collaborated with Marcel George, a London-based illustrator, on three bee-themed t-shirts for boys, girls and women, as well as a pocket square.

All pieces feature George's hand-painted, contemporary watercolour illustrations, and the collection is part of J. Crew's Garments for Good programme. J. Crew launched its first Save the Bees campaign in 2014. There is widespread concern over the declining bee population and the impact that bees and pollination have on the global environment.

British artist Emma Smith and New York-based illustrator Donald Robertson have previously made Save the Bees-designs for J. Crew. This time around, the retailer has also teamed up with Barnes & Webb and the Geffrye Museum of the Home to install colourful beehives in the museum gardens in Hoxton, East London.

The collaboration with George launches on April 22, Earth Day, and will retail from £24.50-£39.50. Fifty percent of retail sales benefit Buglife, the only organisation in Europe devoted to the conservation of all invertebrates.
