Helly Hansen appoints Paul Stoneham CEO

Paul Stoneham has been appointed CEO of Helly Hansen, succeeding Peter Sjolander, who held the position for eight years and who will retain the role of strategic advisor within the sailing and winter sports specialised brand.

Paul Stoneham has thus far spent most of his career in the beauty industry. Most recently he was the CEO at GHD, the innovative hairstyling product brand. He was also the President of Global Business Development of Colgate-Palmolive and Managing Director of Boots Healthcare. These various positions resulted in Stoneham working in the United States, the UK, Canada and Switzerland; key regions for Helly Hansen.

In 2012, the latest change in the company's shareholders saw a 75% stake in go to the Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan. Since then, Helly Hansen has seen a return to profitability and strong growth, especially in the US and Canada. Nevertheless, Scandinavia remains the biggest market for the brand originally from Norway.
