Independent fashion, lifestyle and food brands will now have the opportunity to showcase their products at Hammerson shopping centres alongside aspirational and premium brands as part of a new partnership with Appear Here.

Up Market will launch at Bullring Birmingham - Hammerson

Under a three year agreement, four Hammerson malls including Bullring, Brent Cross, Cabot Circus and Victoria Quarter will house a curated space titled Up Market with a rotating line-up of the region’s best up-and-coming brands. The initiative will offer new and emerging retailers the opportunity to generate brand awareness and leverage significant footfall from a standing start.

Each Up Market will run for a minimum of eight weeks, and independent retailers can rent space for as little as £300 per week.

The scheme is launching at Bullring shopping centre in Birmingham with a line-up of brands that includes natural and organic skincare label Zero Skin, eclectic silver jewellery label Bug and quirky lights and accessories company Jam Jar Lights.

“In line with our strategy to create differentiated destinations where more happens, this initiative will shine a spotlight on the UK’s most exciting and innovative retail talent, providing unknown artisan brands with an unparalleled opportunity to engage with millions of customers on a national scale,” said Hammerson UK commercial director Iain Mitchell.

“Up Market gives young brands a chance to build brand awareness, test their concept and meet local customers face to face in a prime retail destination,” added Appear Here CEO Ross Bailey.

Other brands already signed up to Up Market include Birmingham businesses The Sweet Potato Spirit Co (sweet potato spirits handcrafted in copper stills), The Strawberry Stop (fresh strawberry pots) and Miss Macaroon (macaroons with a social conscience).
