H&M to open biggest French outlet after Paris store renovations

It's the era of the "megastores", thanks to fast fashion's Mango and Zara. And H&M is not being left behind. The Swedish retailer, which has already opened several thousand metres of retail space in France, is focusing on a new flagship offering in the Haussman area of Paris, right near Galeries Lafayette. In doing so, H&M has closed its existing flagship store situated at the beginning of rue Lafayette, in the 9th district of Paris, for one year as mass renovations take place.

The works are expected to be major and will radically change the outside of the 2,000 square metre store, which opened in the city of lights in 2009. The surface area will first of all double in size, as the store grows from three levels to six. While the retailer hasn't commented on the specifics of new store concept, it has announced that the boutique is slated to open to the public in spring 2018.

The store area -- some 4,000 square metres -- will allow H&M to stock its complete offering, retaining its womenswear, childrenswear and cosmetics ranges, which are already present in store, as well as two new ranges: men's and homewares.

Once completed, it will be the biggest H&M store in France, located in a strategic street position, bordering boulevard Haussmann, and it will be privy to Sunday trade. During the renovations, the retailer will still have an operational store however, on the other side of shopping junction, at 54 boulevard Haussmann.
