Central Encajera is one of Spain's oldest companies manufacturing Leavers lace. It will expand Darquer's range within the Noyon group, featuring 'high grade' tulle fabrics, fine Valencia and Alençon lace, and a 'unique collection of mantillas and 8.2 ft by 11.4 ft grand bridal veils.'

The enterprise has been managed by four generations of the Bertran family, and owns an industrial plant consisting of about twenty machines.

"This is a new expertise niche that, in-keeping with the group's strategy of exploiting heritage, will strengthen Darquer on the ready-to-wear and haute couture markets, and add to the range of outstanding lace products of the entire Noyon Group," enthused the purchaser. "This new organisational and commercial dynamics will now cover all apparel segments (haute couture, ready-to-wear and lingerie), strengthen the bridal range, already well-established within Darquer's lace collections, and open up new horizons towards the home decoration sector."

Led for three generations by the Noyon family, the eponymous group currently employs some 250 workers, and claims a customer base of some 300 brands and companies in 40 countries. Lace-maker Darquer, which became part of the Noyon group in 1988, was for a long time a "sleeping beauty", according to director Olivier Noyon. Its offering has now been energised notably through collaborations with several artists.
