SAN FRANCISCO, March 24 (Reuters) - Athletic shoe retailer Finish Line Inc (FINL.O) on Tuesday March 24 named as its new chief financial officer Ed Wilhelm, who held the CFO spot at Borders Group (BGP.N) until January.

The mall-based shoe retailer had been searching for a new CFO since November, when Kevin Wampler left to take the CFO job at dollar store operator Dollar Tree Inc (DLTR.O)

Wilhelm served as CFO at U.S. bookseller Borders from 2000 until January 2009, when he and Chief Executive George Jones were replaced in an executive shakeup at the struggling company, which is in the midst of a turnaround.

Borders replaced Wilhelm with Mark Bierley, the company's senior vice president of finance, but Wilhelm stayed on for a transition period. (Reporting by Alexandria Sage; Editing by Bernard Orr)
