The survey is based on actions taken on LinkedIn by the company's 433+ million members. It found that in the UK, John Lewis is the most popular employer. This is perhaps because the company considers “the happiness of all its members” its ultimate purpose, and all its employees are also co-owners of the business and receive an annual bonus.

Upmarket department store Harrods comes in third place on the list, and etail giant Asos is in sixth place. LinkedIn says: "Asos is in the retail big leagues—but it still thinks and operates like a startup, encouraging innovation and collaboration in its employees."

Another etail giant, Amazon, is in 9th place, while luxury fashion house Burberry comes in 10th. Retail brands and department stores are apparently attractive employers - Selfridges comes in at number 20 on the list, followed by Arcadia at 22, House of Fraser at 23, M&S at 24 and Net-a-Porter at 25.

The company that is the most popular employer globally is Apple. The LinkedIn survey also shows that in France, it's the luxury fashion houses that are most attractive - the list for France is topped by LVMH, followed by Hermès and Chanel, and Cartier comes in sixth place.
