“As exciting and glamorous as the awards event was, the evening’s main purpose was as a fundraiser and it was hugely successful,” said BFC chairman Natalie Massenet.

The evening raised funds to support the work of the BFC Education Foundation, which enables young talent to access world-class education. From the £700,000 raised, £300,000 will be donated to create 25 scholarships, supporting talented students who have been accepted into courses across the UK at varying levels.

This is the largest single donation to the BFC Education Foundation since it was established in 1997. According to the British Fashion Council, the funds raised will form a lifeline for talented students, who are facing increased university fees.

In addition to supporting future talent, the British Fashion Council and Swarovski will support emerging businesses via the NewGen scheme, Business Support and the Colleges Council.

£400,000 will be donated to these designer support initiatives, which include the BFC Fashion Film; Rock Vault, Headonism, the BFC/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund, the BFC/GQ Designer Menswear Fund and Future British sponsored by Boden.
