Doniger Fashion Group announces bankruptcy

The Netherlands’ Doniger Fashion Group, parent company of labels McGregor, Gaastra, ETP and Adam, is bankrupt. On Monday the company filed for court administration, but failed to meet its obligations, according to Dutch broadcaster NOS.

In 2016 the company already filed for bankruptcy, after it reported a loss of 26 million euros in 2015, and was taken over by previous shareholders Jeroen Schothorst and Ben Kolff, alongside investor Marcel Boekhoorn and NIBC bank. The company changed its name from McGregor Fashion Group to Doniger Fashion Group and kept 1,100 of its original 1,250 jobs.

Doniger Fashion Group has 75 stores in the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Germany; 53 are located in the Netherlands, which will all remain open in the hopes of starting anew.

McGregor launched in 1993, and had, at its peak, 150 standalone stores in addition to 3,200 points of sale.
