Coach selects Birmingham for second standalone store outside London

Published
Mar 29, 2017

As Theresa May triggers the formal process of negotiations that will lead to the UK leaving the EU, American luxury brand Coach has announced plans to open a new standalone store in the UK, but not in London.

The luxury US brand has also recently launched a new standalone store in Leeds - Coach

Opening at the Bullring shopping centre in Birmingham, the new 280 sq m boutique will be the brand’s second full-price store outside the capital, with the first opening at Victoria Quarter in Leeds earlier this month.

Coach has also three stores in London, on Regent Street, New Bond Street and in Westfield London, as well as an outlet in Bicester Village.

“Bullring has a reputation as the region's premier retail destination, and so it is a perfect fit for Coach. Following a successful launch in Leeds' Victoria Quarter last week we are looking forward to bringing Coach's modern luxury concept and collections to Birmingham,” said Andrew Stanleick, President of Coach Europe.

The new store will be located on the upper east level of the mall,  and offer the brand’s full range of bags, footwear, outerwear and accessories.

“This latest signing reflects the strength of Bullring's leading retail mix, attracting high-end, aspirational brands to the city. We're delighted to welcome Coach's first standalone store in the city, which significantly strengthens the already dynamic retail line-up at the centre," commented Hammerson commercial director for the UK Iain Mitchell.

With a footfall of 35 million per year, Bulrring is one of the UK’s most successful retail destinations. According to Hammerson, it attracts an annual retail spend of over £1 billion, and houses premium brands including Reiss, Selfridges, Ted Baker, Radley, Tommy Hilfiger and Versus Versace.
