The retailer has been trading in Guilford for 10 years and will be upgrading its presence in the city with a 1,770 sq ft unit at the 80,000 sq ft retail and restaurant development. The upsized store will allow the brand to showcase a wider range of its fashion, accessories, products for kids and homeware lines.

“We’re excited to be opening a larger store in Guildford, reflecting the success we have seen in the town over the past 10 years. We already know how much our local customers enjoy our products and the brand new store will allow us to showcase even more of our popular products. Tunsgate Quarter will be the perfect location for us, and we can’t wait to open when the development is completed,” commented commercial director Sue Carvell.

When complete in autumn 2017, the new-look Tunsgate Quarter will comprise 18 shops and eight restaurants, including The White Company, Bobby Brown and luxury British homewares brand OKA.

The news of Cath Kidston’s signing coincides with a topping out event by Paul Sargent, chief cxecutive and Co-founder of Queensberry; Cllr Paul Spooner, leader of Guildford Borough Council; and James Whiteman, MD of Guildford Borough Council, marking the completion of the highest point of the roof.

Paul Sargent said: “At Queensberry, we are committed to creating thoughtful retail and leisure destinations that have a real and lasting impact on the communities in which they sit. This is very much what we are doing here in Guildford; we are creating a unique setting that will appeal to Guildford’s local and wider catchment and are enjoying strong levels of occupier interest from a raft of high calibre brands as a result. Cath Kidston is the retailer to sign and joins The Ivy Collection, Oka, Loaf, The White Company and Bobbi Brown.”

Tunsgate Quarter, formerly known as Tunsgate Square, is being refurbished by Queensberry and is owned by Merseyside Pension Fund.
