Burberry Prorsum bucked the trend at London Collections: Men Monday, by sending women down the catwalk.

The British fashion house showcased highlights from its Womenswear Spring/Summer 2016 Pre-Collection on the runway as part of the Spring/Summer 2016 Menswear show -- the first time that women's looks have been included in the brand's menswear shows.

Womenswear pieces on show at the event in the UK capital included key trench coats, outerwear, dresses and evening gowns, with an emphasis on lace inserts and feminine cut-out silhouettes contrasted by bold graphic seams.

The penchant for lace carried over into the menswear collection, where crochet shirts were paired with crochet ties and cashmere-soft tailored jogging pants. Sharp blazers and the houses signature macs pulled the look together, resulting in a thoroughly modern business wardrobe.

The result was a dandyish, whimsical elegance that was confirmed by details such as tasselled loafers, retro tie clips, and patent leather man bags. The color palette, too, was fun yet sophisticated, based around a neutral base of creams and greys, with vintage mustard yellows, olive greens and light washed plums thrown into the mix. The real interplay was between the textures, with lace, cashmere and quilting combining for a lovely luxe look.

The show was streamed live on Burberry.com, as well as on the house's social media platforms including Snapchat and Periscope.
