Brooks Brothers to discontinue Black Fleece line

Published
Aug 8, 2015

Brooks Brothers has confirmed that its Thom Browne designed Black Fleece by Brooks Brothers line will be discontinued after the Fall 2015 season.

Thom Browne

The Black Fleece collection was first introduced in 2007 with the intention of being a three-year marketing project, but it remained almost 10 years due to annual sales upwards of $10 million and a very good relationship. Brooks Brothers and Thom Browne both believe to be ending the line on a high note with the fall 2015 collection being considered the best yet.

Part of the reason for the discontinuation is the growth of the Thom Browne line itself. Thom Browne currently has two standalone stores in New York City and Tokyo and its menswear and womenswear collections are available in over 20 countries worldwide. Browne also recently told media website The Cut that he opened up a tailoring facility for his eponymous label.

The slimmer cuts that were originally only found in the Black Fleece line have been incorporated in the Brooks Brothers Red Fleece line that was introduced in 2013. Brooks Brothers Chief Executive, Claudio Del Vecchio, has not shut down the option to revive the brand with a new Creative Director at the helm.

The Black Fleece collection is currently sold at Brooks Brothers stores and has standalone stores in New York City, San Francisco and Hong Kong.
