Boohoo makes £100,000 donation to Manchester victims

Affordable fashion brand Boohoo has made a £100,000 donation to a crowdfunding campaign raising money to support the families of those affected by the Manchester terrorist attack.

The brand announced on Twitter that its social media accounts would remain silent for 24 hours in solidarity with the families of those affected by the attack - Boohoo

The company, based in Manchester, supported the campaign set up by the Manchester Evening News on Tuesday morning as it announced its social media accounts would remain silent for 24 hours in solidarity with the families of those injured or killed during the attack.

"Boohoo was born and bred in the Northern Quarter of Manchester and when we heard what happened we were really touched by it and wanted to show our support," said senior communications officer Androulla Sergiou to the Manchester Evening News.

On Monday night, a 22-year old man carried out a suicide attack in the foyer of the Manchester Arena moments after an Ariana Grande concert ended, killing 22 people and injuring over 50.

Theresa May has upgraded the UK terrorist threat from ‘severe’ to ‘critical’, sending 5,000 military soldiers to the streets under a security operation.
