American Eagle’s Aerie division of underwear and sleepwear has launched Aerie Man, an underwear line marketed to men with real bodies.

The brand introduces Aerie Man as “a celebration of real men who love themselves inside and out.”

The campaign features naturally hairy and naturally shaped men, unlike the traditional models seen in other underwear campaigns.

“Aerie Man means absolutely no retouching and a new, body-positive approach to men’s underwear,” says the brand.

The line is touted to be a “collection of men’s underwear that provide the perfect foundation for your busy and athletic lifestyle. No matter your style, find it here in materials that keep you cool, collected and real, all day long.”

The collection is shown on the website by “real” models such as Doug, shown in an upward facing dog yoga position that emphasizes his lack of washboard abs, and Kelvin, shown taking a selfie in the backyard at an angle that reveals him to be much thicker than an traditional underwear model.

With IMG Models having launched their Brawn division recently of “plus size” men, Aerie’s Real Man campaign is right on point with men’s fashion right now. Pieces of the collection can be had for under $20, with a selection of men’s underwear styles from boxers to briefs.
