The new site in iPort will be Amazon’s third fulfilment centre in Doncaster, where it also located in Balby Carr Bank and Water Vole Way. The new 500 jobs will be created in addition to the 3,500 new permanent jobs Amazon expects to create in the UK this year.

The company has invested more than £4.6 billion in the UK economy to build and run its UK business since 2010.

“We are delighted to announce that we will be creating 500 new permanent full-time jobs with competitive pay and comprehensive benefits starting on day one by opening our third fulfilment centre in Doncaster in summer 2017,” said John Tagawa, Amazon’s Vice President of UK Operations.

“We already have two fulfilment centres in Doncaster so know from experience that there is strong talent in the region who would be well suited to working for Amazon,” he added. “We look forward to hearing from people to fill a range of roles you would expect of a business like Amazon, from specialist professions such as engineering, HR or IT, through to large strategic leadership roles and people to fulfil customer orders maintaining our customer promise.”

Amazon also plans to open two further fulfilment centres in Manchester and Coalville, Leicestershire in the autumn to meet growing customer demand. Additionally a brand new head office is expected to launch in London in 2017.
