Mackenzie joined Mothercare in January 2011 and is currently chief executive of Business in the Community, one of the Prince’s charities focused on mobilising business. Prior to that, she served as chief marketing officer for Aviva, where she led the company’s rebranding from Norwich Union.

"I would like to thank Amanda for the valuable contribution and advice she has given to the board over the past six years and we wish her all the best for the future," said Mothercare chairman Alan Parker.

The British mother-and baby-care retailer said an announcement regarding the appointment of an additional non-executive director will be made in due course.
