Alessandro Dell’Acqua named creative director at Rochas

Alessandro Dell’Acqua has been named creative director at Rochas. “The arrival of Dell’Acqua marks a new chapter for Rochas, a company which was founded in 1925 by Marcel Rochas,” said the company in a press release.

The Italian designer replaces Marco Zanini who helped cement the brand as a major fashion player in his five years at the company. On Wednesday, Zanini sent his final Rochas collection down the runway at Paris Fashion Week.

“Marco Zanini leaving Rochas has been a mutual decision,” continued the press release. It is rumored that the designer could be gearing up to lead the relaunch of Schiaparelli, the fashion house owned by Tod’s parent Diego Della Valle.

Alessandro Dell’Acqua’s first collection for the brand will grace the runway in February 2014 in Paris. The designer will continue to work on his own label N°21.

Prior to his appointment at Rochas, Dell’Acqua had worked for Brioni, Malo, La Perla and Mariella Burani.
