Adam Selman has already made a name for himself designing edgy street wear for the likes of Rihanna and Gigi Hadid. And, after a successful collaboration with Australian sunglasses brand Le Spec, he’s returned with a second line of eyewear.

Despite the success of the first offerings, Selman has kept his second sunglass collaboration on the small scale, with only four styles on offer. Selman drew inspiration for the sunglasses from American artist Patrick Nagel, a popular illustrator of the 1980s whose Art Deco-inspired drawings appeared on the iconic Duran Duran album cover Rio. Despite the retro influences, the small collection introduces fresh shapes like exaggerated cat eyes and graphic half moons, all outfitted with reflective lenses.

Selman’s first pair of cat eye lenses, called The Hunger, sold out almost immediately when they launched in 2015. When designing the new collection, the young designer consulted his clientele for inspiration. “I always have my go-to girls who I love to have try things on and get their opinions. I had the samples and tried them on a bunch of friends, talking to them about how they like their sunglasses, the shapes, and what they don’t like,” he said.

Though he consulted women for inspiration, Selman maintains the line is for anyone to wear regardless of gender. He also cites Wesley Snipes in Blade as inspiration for the rectangular frames in the collection.

No doubt the specs will be seen all over Instagram on Rihanna and Gigi, but Selman says he’d love to see one actress in particular wear them. “I think if I could get Faye Dunaway to wear a pair, I would crumble,” he said.
