An overwhelming 90% of British designers have said they would prefer the UK to remain in the European Union, according to a survey by the British Fashion Council.

Out of a pool of 290 designer businesses, 4.3% stated they would vote to Leave, 2.4% were Undecided and 2.8% stated they would Not Vote.

On Thursday 23 June, the UK will vote either to remain or to leave the European Union. On Tuesday 14 June, a new poll gave Britain’s Leave campaign a seven-point lead.

Several designers backed the Remain campaign during London Collections Men from Friday 10- Monday 13 June. These included designers Christopher Raeburn, Daniel W Fletcher, E.Tautz, Lou Dalton and Sibling.

The fashion industry’s stand echoes the results of the Creative Industries Federation Survey, which showed more than 96% support for Remain among members, with barely 4% in favour of Leave.
