Nowadays it is still hard for fashion magazines to feature models in shapes and sizes that are in synch with reality. A fact highlighted in a survey by ClicknDress, a French e-shopping solution to find clothing suited to one's own morphology, revealing that 40% of French women look for a size 44 (16 UK) or more when they go shopping.

La mitad de los españoles cree que la situación será estable en los próximos doce meses

"Just a few days after [the French] seasonal sales start, women wearing a 38 or 40 size (size 10 or 12 UK) will discover that it is difficult to find their size on the shelves. But for those wearing a 44 (16 UK) size, this issue is a fact of everyday life," stated the survey. Indeed, French women who wear 36 (8 UK) have three times as many choices compared to those who wear 44 (16 UK), while being 2.3 times fewer in numbers. This conclusion was reached by a survey covering nearly 8,000 items.

Figures show that 6.4% of French women wear a 36 (8 UK), 14.6% wear a 38 (10 UK), 19.5% wear a 40 (12 UK), 18.5% wear a 42 (14 UK), 14.5% wear a 44 (16 UK) and 9.8% wear a 46 (18 UK).

It is a common element, only less so when height is concerned. 22% of women are 159 cm (5 ft 2) tall or less, while 5.8% are 175 cm (5 ft 7) tall and/or more. According to the survey, the range available is  much more limited for French women such as these.

The survey was carried out in June on more than 55,000 French women aged 17 to 65, on the basis of declarative data collected on the various web services provided by ClicknDress.
