Gucci has just announced the signing of an exclusive partnership with The Recording Academy, organiser of the famous Grammy Awards, for creating a line of jewellery and watches named Gucci Grammy.

After supporting Martin Scorsese's Film Foundation, PPR's luxury brand has chosen to collaborate with the Grammy Foundation. It said that profits from the sales of this special edition will fund a program aimed at restoring and preserving “major music recordings”.

Inspired by the gramophone, the Grammy Awards, during which the best artists and music producers are celebrated, will present this limited edition range headed by Frida Giannini, the Italian label’s Creative Director. "Music, like film, has an essential place in contemporary culture, and is often a source of inspiration for my creative work," said Frida.

Launched in the 70’s, Gucci watches were first produced under a license. The Italian label at the time was amongst the first luxury fashion brands to integrate this type of product into its offer. In 1997, Gucci acquired the licensing from Severin-Montres. Shortly before, the "G Watch” was launched, one of its leading designs. Since July 2006, its watch category has been fully integrated.
